Accounts Receivable Coordinator

Position Overview:
GFL Environmental is seeking an Accounts Receivable Coordinator to become a vital part of our team. This role is essential in managing and executing all collection activities to minimize the aging of client accounts receivable through thorough review, analysis, and effective communication with clients. This position requires proactive engagement with both clients and internal staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct daily collection outreach (both outbound and inbound) with a target of 45 outbound calls each day.
- Engage with customers regarding overdue invoices and ascertain reasons for delayed payments.
- Perform concise account reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
- Monitor customer accounts for signs of non-payment, late payments, and other discrepancies.
- Facilitate credit card transactions for payments.
- Investigate chargebacks and returned payments.
- Issue notifications for accounts placed on credit hold.
- Advise on the transition of accounts to collection agencies when necessary.
- Recommend write-offs for uncollectible debts.
- Send overdue notices to clients with outstanding balances.
- Utilize skip tracing methods to locate clients.
- Negotiate payment settlements with clients.
- Research and analyze historical data to resolve payment disputes and provide necessary documentation to clients.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve issues effectively.
- Adhere to relevant laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.
- Employ strategies to overcome objections and suggest alternative payment options.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of two years of experience in collections.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed.
- Strong computer and mathematical skills.
- Self-motivated with the capability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills with a focus on professional phone etiquette.
- Able to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
- Possess strong logical reasoning, initiative, and negotiation skills.
