Role Responsibilities

The Associate Tennis Professional plays a crucial role in delivering group and individual tennis instruction to diverse customer demographics. This position collaborates with the Tennis Manager to enhance the program and support its administration. The professional is expected to uphold exceptional teaching standards both on and off the court.

Key Duties Include:

  • Delivering group and private lessons for participants aged 3 and above.
  • Maintaining precise and current records for all students and classes assigned.
  • Overseeing attendance and registration documentation.
  • Committing a minimum of six (6) hours weekly to administrative tasks, assisting the Tennis Manager as required.
  • Utilizing scheduling software for client bookings and modifications.
  • Ensuring accurate and timely commission payments through the payroll system.
  • Engaging in outreach to cultivate new and existing member participation through presentations and community initiatives.
  • Promoting and developing tennis within the local area.
  • Encouraging participation in upcoming leagues/classes or social events by inviting at least 8 individuals monthly.
  • Assisting in the organization and execution of social and competitive tennis events for all age groups.
  • Supporting management in the planning and execution of USTA or in-house tournaments.
  • Collaborating with the Tennis Manager on the long-term development of school programs.
  • Providing timely and courteous responses to member inquiries.
  • Reporting any issues or potential concerns to the supervisor promptly.
  • Being available for a minimum of 30 hours of instruction weekly.
  • Reporting weekly performance metrics to the Tennis Manager.
  • Participating in regular training sessions as directed by the supervisor.
  • Maintaining a professional appearance by adhering to the MVP Sports Clubs uniform policy.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • USTA membership required.
  • USPTA or USPTR certification as Professional or higher is preferred; candidates without certification must obtain it within six months of hire.
  • A minimum of three to four years of college education is preferred.
  • Active involvement with USTA and local/state tennis organizations is beneficial.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required; candidates without certification must complete MVP Sports Clubs in-house training.
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience is necessary.
  • College-level playing experience at NCAA DIV I, II, or III is preferred.
  • Strong customer service skills are essential.
  • Excellent organizational abilities are required.
  • Capability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Demonstrated accountability and integrity are crucial.
  • Familiarity with various teaching tools is necessary for fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Physical ability to engage in tennis instruction, including standing, running, and other physical activities for extended periods.
  • Physical requirements include the ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs, perform office tasks, and maintain proper job safety conditions.
