Role Description
The Tennis Instruction Specialist plays a crucial role in delivering both group and individual tennis lessons to a diverse clientele. This position collaborates closely with the Tennis Manager to enhance program offerings and assist with administrative tasks. Maintaining high teaching standards and engaging with participants is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging group and private tennis lessons for participants aged 3 and older.
- Keep precise records of student progress and class attendance.
- Manage class sign-up processes and registration documentation effectively.
- Dedicate a minimum of six hours weekly to administrative support for the Tennis Manager.
- Utilize scheduling software for client bookings and adjustments.
- Ensure accurate and timely commission payments through the payroll system.
- Foster relationships with new and existing members through outreach and community engagement.
- Encourage participation in leagues and social events by inviting members regularly.
- Assist in organizing social and competitive tennis events for all age groups.
- Support the execution of USTA or internal tournaments.
- Collaborate with the Tennis Manager on the long-term development of tennis programs.
- Provide exceptional customer service by addressing member inquiries promptly.
- Report any issues to the supervisor as they arise.
- Be available for a minimum of 30 hours of instruction weekly.
- Submit weekly performance metrics to the Tennis Manager.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions as required.
- Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with company standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Membership with USTA.
- Certification from USPTA or USPTR as a Professional or higher, with a requirement to obtain certification within six months if not already held.
- Preferred completion of three to four years of college education.
- Active involvement with USTA and local/state tennis organizations.
- First Aid/CPR certification is required, with training provided if not currently held.
- A minimum of two years of teaching experience is essential.
- Preferred collegiate playing experience at NCAA Division I, II, or III level.
- Strong customer service and organizational skills are necessary.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Demonstrated accountability and integrity in previous roles.
- Familiarity with various teaching tools and methodologies.
- Physical capability to perform teaching duties, including standing, running, and handling equipment for extended periods.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform various physical tasks, including lifting up to 40 lbs and completing office tasks requiring fine motor skills.
