Position: Educational Support Specialist - Elementary Literacy

As a Full-Time Educational Support Specialist, your primary responsibilities will encompass:

  • Assisting the classroom teacher in preparing and distributing instructional materials.
  • Providing instruction to students under the guidance of the classroom teacher.
  • Supporting the classroom teacher in maintaining individual student records as needed.
  • Helping to keep the classroom organized and conducive to learning.
  • Effectively utilizing resources to support learning activities within the classroom and the broader community.
  • Exhibiting exceptional classroom management techniques, including effective questioning, clear assignment communication, and fostering an atmosphere of mutual respect.
  • Collaborating with parents to build trust in the classroom environment.
  • Encouraging harmonious interactions among students during work and play.
  • Demonstrating personal qualities that positively reflect on the individual, the team, and the Academy.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned by the principal or Choice Schools Associates.

Essential Skills and Qualifications: While we welcome diverse backgrounds, the ideal candidate would possess the following:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Completion of at least two years of higher education (equivalent to 60 semester hours); or possession of an associate's degree (or higher); or meeting a rigorous quality standard through a formal academic assessment.
  • Knowledge and ability to assist in teaching reading, writing, and mathematics; or readiness skills in these areas as appropriate.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with students, staff, and guardians.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with proper grammar and vocabulary.
  • Demonstrated exemplary work habits from previous employers.
  • Strong interpersonal abilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or valid teaching certification.
  • Experience working with at-risk student populations.
  • Prior experience in an educational setting with school-aged children.
