Role Responsibilities

The Tennis Instruction Specialist is tasked with providing both group and individual tennis lessons while ensuring exceptional customer service for current and prospective tennis players. This role requires maintaining high teaching standards and engaging in various on-court and off-court activities. This is a part-time position within our Tennis Department, reporting directly to the Tennis Manager.

  • Deliver group and private lessons for participants aged 3 years and older.
  • Keep precise and current records for all students and classes assigned.
  • Maintain attendance logs and registration forms accurately.
  • Utilize scheduling software for client bookings and adjustments.
  • Manage commission and payroll systems to ensure timely and accurate payments.
  • Promote and enhance tennis participation in the local community.
  • Encourage at least 8 individuals monthly to join upcoming leagues, classes, or social events.
  • Assist in organizing and executing social and competitive tennis events for all age groups.
  • Support management in the planning and execution of USTA or in-house tournaments.
  • Provide prompt and courteous responses to member inquiries.
  • Report any issues or potential concerns to the supervisor immediately.
  • Commit to a minimum of 12 hours of instruction per week.
  • Regularly report critical metrics to the Tennis Manager.
  • Participate in ongoing Service Game training sessions as directed.
  • Maintain a professional appearance by adhering to the MVP Sports Clubs uniform policy.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Membership with USTA.
  • Certification as a USPTA Professional Level or Recreational Coach, or USPTR certification (required within 6 months if not already obtained).
  • A minimum of three to four years of college education is preferred.
  • Experience with USTA or local/state tennis organizations is beneficial.
  • First Aid/CPR certification is required (in-house training available if not certified).
  • At least 2 years of teaching experience is necessary.
  • Preferred qualifications include college playing experience, Cardio Tennis experience, and specialization in 10 & under tennis.
  • Strong customer service skills are essential.
  • Excellent organizational abilities and multitasking skills are required.
  • Flexibility to work extra hours, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Demonstrated accountability and integrity in previous roles.
  • Familiarity with various teaching tools relevant to the role.
  • Physical capability to perform the job, including standing, running, and handling tennis equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to perform various physical tasks including lifting up to 40 lbs and completing office-related duties.
