About Us: Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA) is a recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization that supports independently incorporated Planned Parenthood affiliates throughout the United States. The Planned Parenthood Action Fund operates as an independent, nonpartisan, not-for-profit organization dedicated to advocacy and political engagement, focusing on educational initiatives, grassroots organizing, and legislative advocacy.

Position Overview: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our Finance Department, reporting directly to the Assistant Controller. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial integrity and accountability of PPFA and its associated entities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and review the work of staff accountants, ensuring timely preparation of journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Oversee the accounts receivable function and collaborate with various departments to accurately classify cash receipts and receivables.
  • Assist the Assistant Controller in the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes, including the preparation of financial statements.
  • Conduct thorough reviews of monthly bank reconciliations and coordinate with other departments for accurate cash transaction recording.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Finance Department's objectives.
Collaboration and Engagement:
  • Work closely with Finance team members and other departments to ensure accurate financial transaction recording.
  • Manage and mentor staff accountants to uphold the quality of financial reporting.
  • Coordinate with the Revenue Accounting Manager and Senior Accountants to facilitate timely account reconciliations.
  • Engage with Program and Grants Financial Management to ensure proper classification and reporting of grant fund expenditures.
  • Collaborate with IT to enhance integrations between accounting and finance systems.
  • Occasionally liaise with external parties to gather necessary information for accurate transaction recording.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
  • CPA designation is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in accounting and financial management.
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and the ability to conduct accounting research.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as Sage Intacct and Microsoft Excel.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment, handling multiple tasks with accuracy.

Compensation: The salary range for this position is $90,000 - $97,000 annually, complemented by a comprehensive benefits package including generous leave, medical, dental, and vision coverage, life insurance, and retirement plans.
