Job Summary

Morgan Lewis is seeking a Business Development Manager to assist in the planning, coordination, and advancement of our most critical client-centric business development strategies. The ideal candidate will be a key strategist and facilitator of practice generation and business growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead practice generation-focused programs and activities, including identifying business development action items, specific clients to target for increased revenue generation, and cross-collaboration opportunities for clients to expand work across new practice areas and geographies.
  • Develop business development plans and drive through execution.
  • Collaborate with lawyers and BD team members to prepare compelling pitches and proposals and track activity.
  • Prepare and report on data analysis and quarterly reports on key metrics, strategic priorities, and relevant trends and developments for leadership and firm management.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to leverage marketing campaigns into client development opportunities and to leverage firm-sponsored events, seminars, and webinars to create BD opportunities.
  • Attend industry conferences, networking events, and trade shows to build relationships and promote the firm.
  • Drive working groups, initiatives, annual partner meeting sessions, and special projects.
  • Develop and manage the business development budget, allocating resources effectively to maximize ROI.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and five years of progressively responsible experience in business and practice development, marketing, communications, or a related field.
  • Law firm or professional services experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of the competitive landscape challenging major global law firms is a significant benefit.
  • Demonstrated capacity to develop and implement strategic business development plans.
  • Experience excelling in a highly matrixed work environment with ability to work across multiple business units and functional teams.
  • Superior client service orientation and strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with partners, lawyers, executives, and all levels of employees across the firm in addition to clients and vendors effectively.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and effective presentation skills and professional, open-minded approach to working effectively with differing opinions and diverse personalities.
  • Results oriented with time management and organizational skills to prioritize work and handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Ability to work independently as well as manage projects and assignments in a collaborative team environment and demonstrated leadership and supervisory skills and ability to manage and motivate staff.
  • Discretion with confidential information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, familiarity using a CRM system, and ability to adapt to new software programs.
  • Flexibility with working hours and business travel.
