We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at LCMC Health. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood specimens from patients in support of laboratory procedures used in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
Key Responsibilities- Perform venipuncture and skin puncture in accordance with department SOP.
- Adhere to SOP in the use of handheld devices for specimen collection for patients.
- Monitor collection lists and document the status of outstanding collections where specimens are not collected.
- Ensure that STAT specimens are delivered to the Lab within 15 minutes of collection or pick-up.
- Update specimen status and correct data in terms of collect date/time and receipt date/time.
- Deliver specimens to the appropriate Lab Section immediately upon receipt.
- Communicate complaints or problems to department supervisors.
- Collect data for quality assurance programs as outlined by department SOP or instruction by department supervisors.
- Maintain thorough and neat documentation.
- Monitor and clear collection pending reports on a continuous basis.
- High School Diploma/GED or equivalent OR 2 years of applicable work experience.
- Phlebotomist Certification will be considered in lieu of minimum qualifications.
- Basic Life Support Health Care Provider (CPR, BLS) - American Heart Association.
This position requires sitting, standing, and walking for extended periods. The employee must be able to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally and push/pull objects with a negligible amount of force. The employee must also be able to reach forward, bend, and twist frequently.
