About the Job

Vets Hired is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Ethics Investigator to join our team. As an Ethics Investigator, you will play a critical role in ensuring the integrity of our organization's operations and upholding the highest standards of ethics and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Complaint Review and Investigation: Assist in the review and processing of complaints submitted to the Commission, conducting preliminary research to determine the type of violation and recommending the next course of action.
  • Case Management: Track complaint intake, prepare case files, draft and send correspondence, maintain enforcement databases, and communicate with parties as necessary.
  • Investigative Research: Conduct thorough investigations, gathering comprehensive factual information, interviewing relevant parties, obtaining documentary evidence, and analyzing the information to develop a recommendation for case resolution.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Prepare written summaries of facts, initial analysis of the case, and potential staff recommendations.
  • Information and Assistance: Respond to requests for information and assistance on matters related to the Commission's work and laws within its jurisdiction.
  • Subpoena Service: Draft and serve subpoenas as necessary.
  • Field Investigations: Conduct field investigations as needed, including through the use of a motor vehicle.
  • Administrative Support: Perform administrative and clerical duties as needed to support the Enforcement Unit's work.

Requirements:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in criminal law, public policy, political science, journalism, finance, accounting, or a related field.
  • Experience: Three years of progressively responsible professional investigative experience, preferably in administrative, civil, or criminal law or in investigative journalism. Experience with campaign finance, lobbyist, transparency, or ethics laws and regulations is highly desirable.
  • Desirable Qualifications: Possession of a Juris Doctor or Master's degree, familiarity with the administration of political campaigns and/or local governmental processes, leadership or management certificates, experience with campaign finance, lobbyist, transparency, or ethics laws and regulations, and bilingual skills.
