Role Summary

WSP is seeking a Senior Vice President of Groundwater Management to enhance our California Site Investigation and Remediation Division. This role will be pivotal in driving project execution and expansion across various market sectors, collaborating closely with a team of scientists and engineers in our California offices. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in both strategic planning and project delivery, focusing on client management services for hydrogeologic assessments, environmental studies, water resource evaluations, and operational water management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead comprehensive environmental site evaluations (Phase I and II).
  • Analyze literature, data, laboratory results, and other information sources to identify chemical impacts.
  • Provide technical guidance for geological and hydrogeological assessments, testing, visualization, groundwater flow modeling, and contaminated site investigations.
  • Formulate action plans for large-scale pollution, hazardous waste, and environmental control initiatives.
  • Supervise and coordinate cross-functional teams in executing project tasks.
  • Engage in the application for environmental permits and implement corrective measures as necessary.
  • Manage projects and communicate with regulatory agencies, tailored to the individual's experience level.
  • Draft proposals and cultivate client relationships to ensure successful project delivery and repeat business.
  • Classify contaminated materials and advise on their disposal methods.
  • Contribute to multi-disciplinary project teams, offering strategic insights to clients.
  • Develop a client portfolio for high-level environmental risk assessment services and identify additional business opportunities.
  • Mentor junior staff to foster their professional growth.
  • Collaborate with experts from various fields to deliver innovative solutions for clients.
Qualifications

Essential Criteria
  • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Geosciences, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in the field of Geology/Hydrogeology.
  • Expertise in analytical geology concepts, research methodologies, and investigation techniques.
  • Experience managing mid-level projects, including tracking project hours and expenses.
  • Knowledge of best practices for site investigations and sampling procedures.
  • Proven experience conducting Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments in line with industry standards.
  • Experience with underground storage tank investigations and remediation.
  • Demonstrated success in the remediation, water resources, or mining sectors.
  • Familiarity with federal and state regulatory frameworks.
  • Ability to prepare complex technical documents and deliverables.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of engaging with all organizational levels.
  • Proficient in office software and communication tools.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills to derive conclusions from data and testing results.
  • Experience with vapor intrusion evaluation and soil gas sampling.
  • Willingness to travel as required by project needs.
Desirable Attributes
  • Experience in the Pacific Northwest is preferred.
  • A Master's Degree in environmental science, hydrogeology, geology, or a similar discipline.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, ArcGIS, MODFLOW, R, and Python.
  • Extensive project management experience with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of environmental statistics and site closure strategies.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), or Licensed Hydrogeologist (LHg) credentials, or the ability to obtain such licensure within five years.
  • Experience in mentoring and developing junior staff.
  • Completion of 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER health and safety training.

Compensation

The expected salary range for this position is $114,000 - $210,000, reflecting the company's commitment to fair compensation based on the successful applicant's qualifications and experience.
