Job Summary

Telecare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced RN Supervisor II to join our team at the Garfield Neurobehavioral Center. Key Responsibilities
  • Implement and supervise the overall direct nursing care provided by the nursing department on their designated shift.
  • Provide program planning, development, review, and evaluation of clinical and administrative activities.
  • Use critical thinking and independent judgment to direct, coordinate, and oversee the nursing and other healthcare services of a program.
  • Supervise an assigned multidisciplinary team, including professional, para-professional support staff, nursing students, and interns.
  • Assign direct report employees to work with clients based on their individual needs and the individual skill sets of staff members.
  • Direct staff in the performance of their job duties, including training and coaching.
  • Evaluate job performance and oversee the disciplinary process as needed for performance issues.
  • Participate in the recruitment and selection of new staff members.
  • Provide clinical assistance and oversight of staff performing case management and care coordination.
  • Investigate, gather data, and respond to issues and grievances; escalate matters as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with other shifts to ensure accurate and complete documentation in the medical record and timely referral to the attending physician.
Requirements
  • Two years of psychiatric direct care nursing experience and at least two years of experience in a supervisory role.
  • Completion of Telecare assigned Supervisory training within six months in lieu of supervisory experience.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing and current licensure as a Registered Nurse by the State of California.
  • CPR, Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), and First Aid certification on date of employment or within 30 days of employment and maintain current certification throughout employment.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • All opportunities at Telecare are contingent upon successful completion and receipt of acceptable results of the applicable post-offer physical examination, two-step PPD test for tuberculosis, acceptable criminal background clearances, excluded party sanctions, and degree or license verification.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Current knowledge of psychiatric illnesses, regulatory requirements regarding the delivery of healthcare to persons with mental illness, and infection control requirements.
Essential Functions
  • Applies management practices that include empowerment of staff, the provision of clear and concise expectations regarding duties assigned to employees, and frequent feedback focusing on both positive and problematic aspects of work performance and other management practices that are consistent with Continuous Quality Improvement.
  • Promotes and maintains harmonious and effective relationships and communications within the department and with other departments.
  • Provides functional and administrative supervision for assigned professional, para-professional, support staff, nursing students, or interns.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion to provide day-to-day supervision of designated staff members, including assigning staff to work with individual clients based on their individual needs and the individual skill sets of staff members, directing staff in the performance of their job duties, training and coaching staff, evaluating job performance, overseeing the disciplinary process as needed for performance issues, participating in the recruitment and selection of new staff members, providing clinical assistance and oversight of staff performing case management and care coordination, investigating, gathering data, and responding to issues and grievances; escalating matters as appropriate.
Skills

Physical Demands

The physical demands here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

The employee is occasionally required to sit, walk, bend, squat, kneel, twist, reach, push, pull, and lift and carry items weighing 25 pounds or less as well as to frequently stand and do simple and power grasping.

The position requires manual dexterity, repetition, and fine motor skills as well as Hazardous Exposure (Blood Borne Pathogens, Hospital Waste, Chemical & Infectious).
