Purpose:

The Lead Specialist in Academic Technology serves as a pivotal figure in the academic technology landscape, orchestrating and nurturing collaborative efforts across various units to enhance central business operations and manage a suite of technologies essential for furthering the institution's educational mission.

This role will be the primary authority on the institution's Course Evaluation System (CES), overseeing business requirements, operational management, implementation, troubleshooting, technical support, and customer service.

The Office of Academic Technology (OAT) aims to cultivate a strategic and comprehensive academic technology ecosystem that supports the success of students, faculty, and staff.

The Lead Specialist is dedicated to fostering exceptional academic experiences for all students, faculty, and staff by facilitating student feedback on instructional quality and other specialized initiatives.


Responsibilities:
  • Act as the principal product manager for the Course Evaluation System (CES), ensuring all software applications related to CES are expertly managed, particularly focusing on Explorance Blue.
  • Coordinate all phases of the course evaluation lifecycle, ensuring effective management between the Office of Academic Technology (OAT) and Academic Information Systems (AIS).
  • Align CES initiatives with established business requirements, policies, standards, and stakeholder interests.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all course evaluation software applications and relevant university policies.
  • Lead communications with departmental Course Evaluation Liaisons (CELs) across numerous departments, ensuring the successful setup of course evaluations each semester.
  • Provide ongoing technical assistance and training for CES contacts and CELs.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive operational strategies and training resources to facilitate effective course evaluation deployment.
  • Oversee customer service and support for students, faculty, and university administrators, ensuring prompt resolution of service requests.
  • Create customized audits and reports utilizing course evaluation data for strategic planning.
  • Supervise and mentor part-time Course Evaluation Assistants and seasonal staff.
  • Assist with departmental initiatives during off-peak periods.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in academic program administration, instructional technology, or related fields.
  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Experience managing high-stakes deadlines while maintaining professionalism.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to navigate ambiguity and resolve issues independently.
  • Commitment to continuous learning and improvement.
  • Experience in effective communication across various units and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Master's degree.
  • Over five years of experience in project administration or instructional technology.
  • Familiarity with higher education student information systems and course evaluation processes.

Salary Range: $70,000+ depending on qualifications
Working Conditions: Work performed in a standard office environment.
