Position Overview

The Vice President of Financial Operations plays a pivotal role in shaping the financial landscape of the organization. This leadership position is responsible for guiding the financial strategy and ensuring fiscal integrity across all departments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Financial Leadership: Contribute to the development of organizational strategies by providing insightful financial analysis and recommendations that align with the overall mission.
  • Budget Oversight: Lead the strategic planning of financial operations, setting both short-term and long-term priorities, and directing the budget development process to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Transparency and Accountability: Ensure full transparency regarding the financial performance of the organization, providing clear financial direction and leadership.
  • Collaboration with Executive Leadership: Work closely with the Superintendent and other executive leaders to design an organizational structure that supports the achievement of the district's objectives.
  • Fiscal Responsibility: Direct the establishment of ongoing financial operations to ensure fiscal responsibility and accountability to the community and stakeholders.
  • Performance Evaluation: Develop financial programs and methodologies to establish performance standards and evaluation metrics.
  • Record Maintenance: Oversee the maintenance of financial records and reports, ensuring that the Board of Trustees is kept informed of district progress and future financial plans.
  • Professional Development: Stay updated on new regulations and best practices by engaging in educational opportunities and professional networking.
  • Personnel Management: Manage personnel functions including recruitment, selection, and supervision to maintain an effective and productive financial team.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Statistics, or a related field; MBA is preferred.
  • Professional financial designation such as CA, CMA, CPA, or CFP is preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of public school finance, budgeting, and accounting principles, acquired through significant relevant experience.
  • Understanding of competitive bidding statutes and state purchasing procedures.
  • A minimum of 10 years of directly related experience is required.
  • Advanced analytical and computer skills.
  • Proven ability to strategize and resolve large-scale organizational challenges.
