Department Summary

The University of North Texas at Dallas (UNT Dallas) is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Executive Vice President of Operations (EVP). Established in 2010, UNT Dallas has rapidly emerged as a leading public university in Texas, known for its affordability and commitment to diversity, with a student body that is predominantly first-generation college attendees.

Position Overview

The Executive Vice President of Operations (EVP) is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the daily administrative functions of the University of North Texas at Dallas. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the university's operational strategies align with its overarching goals and vision. The EVP collaborates closely with the President and other senior leaders to drive operational excellence across various departments, including Facilities, Campus Safety, and Event Management.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a related field, accompanied by a minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a relevant area, preferably within higher education.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively with diverse groups and stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with best practices in operational management.
  • Understanding of relevant laws and regulations governing operational functions.
  • Expertise in budgeting and financial management.
  • Proficient in strategic planning and execution.
  • Experience in leading teams and managing projects.
  • Conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
  • Able to cultivate a collaborative and innovative work environment.
  • Adaptability to evolving organizational needs.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a relevant field and at least 7 years of experience.
  • Knowledge of legislative and governmental relations.
  • In-depth understanding of UNT Dallas policies and operational goals.

Job Duties:
  • Formulate and implement operational policies that reflect the university's mission and values.
  • Assist the President and leadership team in shaping and executing the strategic vision of the university.
  • Oversee operational activities to ensure efficiency and high-quality service delivery.
  • Evaluate operational performance, identifying areas for improvement and proposing actionable solutions.
  • Manage the budget for the Operations Division, ensuring effective resource allocation.
  • Direct procurement processes to meet the needs of the university community efficiently.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Lead and mentor operational teams, promoting a culture of excellence and innovation.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and assess their relevance to the university's operations.
  • Supervise the performance of departmental directors and managers.
  • Collaborate with various departments to ensure the delivery of superior services to the university community.
  • Identify and mitigate operational risks through effective strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws and university policies.
  • Support initiatives aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Represent the university in external partnerships related to operational functions.
