The Opportunity:

The Surety Risk Consultant at Hylant is responsible for executing placements and delivering technical expertise, encompassing account management and brokerage services for both new and existing surety clients. This role necessitates collaboration with internal sales and service teams, alongside clients and vendor partners, to ensure a positive customer experience that fosters client retention and long-term relationships.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as a coverage expert, providing technical support to internal teams and external clients.
  • Work with client executives and the surety team to determine the best program design and placement for both new and existing clients.
  • Oversee marketing efforts for new accounts, including information gathering, outreach to various sureties, and presenting terms and conditions to clients.
  • Collaborate with bond processors and client executives to manage bond declinations and take necessary actions.
  • Build and maintain relationships with insurance carriers, centers of influence, and vendors that are vital to our success and align with our mission and core values.
  • Develop educational content for both internal and external distribution.
  • Assess appropriate markets and bond structures for assigned clients and prospects.
  • Support the Claims team in the technical evaluation and interpretation of policies.
  • Market submissions to carriers to secure the most advantageous surety program tailored to client needs.
  • Facilitate the placement of bonds for clients with innovative terms.
  • Provide technical evaluations and interpretations of bonds to assist with claims requirements.
  • Engage in additional duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Surety placements.
  • A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Experience in surety brokering, risk management, underwriting, and consulting is highly preferred.
  • Advanced technical knowledge in surety.
  • Active Property & Casualty insurance licensure.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, including effective listening and presentation abilities.
  • Willingness to travel by car or airplane for meetings, conferences, or other business-related activities.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
