Role of the Staff Accountant
Key Objectives
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring accurate reporting and data validation to support senior management in financial decision-making aligned with organizational goals.
  • Oversee policies and procedures for designated departments, identifying and recommending enhancements for accounting reports and processes.
  • Manage payroll operations, including the review of wages, deductions, commissions, bonuses, and tax obligations.
Responsibilities
  • Assist the Controller with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes as needed.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, and intercompany transactions.
  • Handle bi-monthly payroll preparation, calculate commissions, and ensure adherence to policies.
  • Reconcile benefits statements and track deductions.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, review purchases for compliance, and calculate monthly depreciation.
  • Manage credit card usage, review transactions, collect receipts, and code statements for intercompany charges.
  • Post monthly rent and recurring charges accurately.
  • Calculate management fees as required.
  • Perform additional tasks such as recording journal entries, third-party billing, sales and use tax payments, and providing accounts payable support.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in financial software and technology.
  • Strong understanding of financial and accounting standards and regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize effectively.
  • Willingness to learn payroll processes.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles is essential.
  • Experience in development or property management is preferred.
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • A minimum of two years of professional accounting experience.
Work Environment
  • This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with potential overtime during peak periods.
  • This role is ONSITE and will report directly to the Finance Manager.
