Role Overview: Staff Accountant
Key Objectives
  • Perform general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring accurate reporting and data validation to assist senior management in financial decision-making.
  • Oversee compliance with policies and procedures for designated departments, recommending enhancements for accounting reports and practices.
  • Manage payroll processes, including the review of wages, deductions, commissions, bonuses, and tax obligations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Controller with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes.
  • Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts and prepaids.
  • Administer bi-monthly payroll, calculate commissions, and ensure adherence to policies.
  • Reconcile benefits statements and track deductions.
  • Maintain fixed asset registers, ensuring compliance with purchasing policies and calculating monthly depreciation.
  • Manage credit card transactions, reviewing charges and collecting receipts.
  • Post monthly rent and recurring charges, and calculate management fees.
  • Record journal entries and assist with third-party billing and sales tax payments as needed.
Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Proficiency in financial software and technology.
  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting standards.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Willingness to learn payroll processes.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles is essential.
  • Experience in development or property management is preferred.
Educational Background
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
  • A minimum of two years of professional accounting experience.
Work Environment
  • This role requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with potential overtime during peak periods.
  • This position is ONSITE and reports to the Finance Manager.
