Internship in Finance and Accounting - Accounting Pathway

The Accounting Internship is tailored for recent graduates aiming to embark on a leadership journey within the accounting sector. Interns will learn to accurately maintain financial records, execute related accounting tasks, prepare daily entries, oversee the preparation of additional entries, monitor accounts, and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

You will acquire practical skills and insights into the professional environment, all while building a network that includes top talent in the industry.

Key Responsibilities

The Finance and Accounting Internship Program features specialized tracks in finance or accounting, enhancing skills and experience in financial principles, critical thinking, and business acumen. Participants will benefit from structured early-career development through both guided and self-directed learning and training initiatives. Interns will cultivate problem-solving skills and learn to communicate effectively in a financial context while drawing data-driven conclusions.

You will engage in projects for Fifth Third Bank, receiving constructive feedback and evaluations based on accuracy, thoroughness, and adherence to deadlines. Additionally, you will have the chance to receive mentorship from industry experts, interact with executive leadership, and participate in networking and social events. At the end of the internship, you will present your overall experience to senior leadership, highlighting key concepts learned and providing an overview of your projects.

Essential Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a business concentration (preferably accounting, economics, or finance)
  • A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Proficient in Excel (data entry, formatting, charts, basic formulas, Vlookup)
  • Demonstrated campus involvement or leadership experience
  • Relevant internship or co-op experience
  • Able to engage in both guided and self-directed learning activities
  • Strong attention to detail and effective communication of financial information
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future
