Key Objectives
- Perform general ledger account reconciliations, ensuring accurate reporting and data validation to support senior management in financial decision-making.
- Oversee compliance with policies and procedures for designated departments, identifying opportunities for enhancement in accounting reports and processes.
- Manage payroll operations, including the review of wages, deductions, commissions, bonuses, and tax obligations.
- Assist the Controller with monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes as required.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, and intercompany transactions.
- Administer bi-monthly payroll, calculate commissions, and ensure adherence to policies.
- Reconcile benefit statements and track deductions.
- Maintain fixed asset registers, review purchases for compliance, and calculate monthly depreciation.
- Manage credit card usage, review charges, collect receipts, and code statements.
- Post monthly rent and recurring charges accurately.
- Calculate management fees as necessary.
- Record journal entries, manage third-party billing, and handle sales and use tax payments as needed.
- Proficiency in financial software and technology.
- Strong understanding of financial and accounting standards and regulations.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize effectively.
- Willingness to learn payroll processes.
- Knowledge of GAAP accounting principles is essential.
- Experience in development or property management is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- A minimum of two years of professional accounting experience.
- This position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week, with potential overtime during peak periods.
- This role is ONSITE.
- The Staff Accountant will report directly to the Finance Manager.
