Internship in Finance and Accounting - Accounting Focus

Fifth Third Bank offers a comprehensive 10-week internship program designed for college students, providing hands-on experience within the Cincinnati market. This paid internship is an excellent chance to immerse yourself in our business practices, operations, and procedures, while developing the skills necessary for a future role in commercial banking. Housing assistance may be available for qualifying interns.

As an intern, you will be entrusted with responsibilities and held accountable for risk management. You will be encouraged to share ideas, raise concerns, and adhere to policies and procedures that protect the organization. Upholding integrity for customers and colleagues is essential; your actions will contribute to a positive customer experience, achieving tangible results by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting various risks.

The Accounting Internship is tailored for recent graduates aiming to embark on a leadership journey in the accounting sector. Participants will accurately maintain financial records, execute related accounting tasks, prepare daily entries while supervising the preparation of others, monitor accounts, maintain balances, and ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

This internship provides valuable work experience and targeted educational opportunities, fostering the development of future leaders while offering exposure to diverse business areas. Key Responsibilities

The Finance and Accounting Internship Program features distinct tracks in finance or accounting, focusing on the development of financial concepts, critical thinking skills, and business acumen. Participants will experience guided early-career development through structured and self-directed learning activities. Interns will enhance their problem-solving skills and learn to communicate effectively in a financial context while drawing data-driven conclusions.

You will engage in projects for Fifth Third Bank, receiving constructive feedback and evaluations based on accuracy, thoroughness, and adherence to deadlines. Additionally, you will have the chance to receive mentorship from industry experts, gain exposure to executive leadership, and participate in networking events. At the conclusion of the internship, you will present your experiences to senior leadership, highlighting key learnings and project overviews.

Essential Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in business (preferably accounting, economics, or finance)
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Proficient in Excel (data entry, formatting, charts, basic formulas, Vlookup)
  • Involvement in campus activities or leadership roles
  • Relevant internship or co-op experience
  • Able to engage in both guided and self-directed learning activities
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to convey financial information
  • Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based immigration sponsorship
