Job Overview:

The Procurement Specialist I is responsible for managing supplier relationships, enhancing operational efficiency, and negotiating cost-saving agreements. The ideal candidate should exhibit self-motivation, initiative, and a proactive approach to learning processes and systems, engaging with suppliers to identify opportunities for cost reductions. This role supports various functions within the Purchasing Department as directed by management.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee OEM program responsibilities, including the creation, coordination, tracking, and communication of monthly design changes and new component meetings with relevant departments to ensure timely production.
  • Act as a liaison between local and advanced purchasing teams.
  • Conduct daily reviews of the New Component List (NCL) to ensure timely registration of required parts and submission of quotes by buyers.
  • Evaluate value analysis/value engineering (VA/VE) cost-saving proposals and coordinate with related departments and purchasing.
  • Collaborate with team members to develop cost reduction strategies, including price matching initiatives.
  • Communicate procurement strategies and ideas to the broader management team.
  • Maintain and monitor invoice processing to ensure timely vendor payments.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding the status of programs under review.
  • Work closely with advanced procurement teams to facilitate the transition from prototype to production builds, ensuring alignment with customer requirements and sourcing based on supplier capabilities.
  • Engage with engineering departments to assess capacity needs and confirm supplier commitments with buyer support.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience in a related field, with 3-5 years of relevant purchasing experience preferred.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish is advantageous.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
