KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ASCPL is seeking a Technology Support Specialist to further our mission of offering resources for education and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs that enhance individual, family, and community life. The TechZone is a creative space open to artists, entrepreneurs, small business owners, hobbyists, and innovators, equipped with various tools available at minimal or no cost, including recording studios, laser engravers, vinyl printers, green screen rooms, design computers, button/magnet makers, media transfer stations, and more.

The Technology Support Specialist will work 37.5 hours per week, including evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays, engaging with the public to meet their technology needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming customers in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Providing guidance and assistance in utilizing all technology and equipment, along with instructional support.
  • Understanding and addressing various technical inquiries by delivering tailored information.
  • Acting as a passport agent in compliance with Department of State regulations.
  • Serving as a notary public in accordance with Ohio laws.
  • Carrying out standard library operations, including circulation, delivery, and service desk functions.
  • Assisting with the cleaning, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of TechZone equipment.
  • Interpreting library policies and procedures to the public in a customer-friendly manner.
  • Training new hires and other staff on TechZone procedures.
  • Performing clerical tasks as needed.
  • Supporting programs and projects, including the promotion of library materials.
  • Managing supply inventory and placing orders for necessary supplies.
  • Addressing issues and maintaining order as required.
  • Executing opening and closing procedures.
  • Creating engaging content for social media, marketing, or other library platforms.
  • Completing additional duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in customer service. Ability to assist customers with personal and library technology and equipment. Capability to provide both in-person and remote technical support. Willingness to become a passport agent and a public notary. Understanding of intellectual freedom principles as they pertain to public libraries. Competence in using computers and relevant software or systems necessary for job functions. Ability to lift light to moderate objects (over 25 pounds) and transport them short distances (up to 50 feet), as well as push library material carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Successful completion of criminal background and education verification checks.

Preferred: Some college coursework or an Associate's degree. A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
