KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The ASCPL is seeking a Technology Support Specialist to contribute to our mission of offering resources for education and recreation, information services, meeting spaces, and programs that enhance individual, family, and community life. Our TechZone is a creative space open to artists, entrepreneurs, small business owners, hobbyists, and innovators, equipped with various tools available at minimal or no cost, including recording studios, laser engravers, vinyl printers, green screen rooms, design computers, and more.
The Technology Support Specialist will work 37.5 hours per week, including evenings, Saturdays, and Sundays, engaging with the public to meet their technology needs, and:
- Welcomes patrons in a friendly and approachable manner.
- Guides and assists patrons in utilizing all technology and equipment, providing instruction as needed.
- Analyzes and resolves various technical inquiries by delivering tailored information.
- Acts as a passport agent in compliance with Department of State regulations.
- Serves as a notary public, adhering to the Ohio Revised Code and Ohio Administrative Code.
- Performs standard library functions, including circulation, delivery, and service desk operations.
- Assists with the cleaning, servicing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of TechZone equipment.
- Explains library policies and procedures to the public in a customer-focused manner.
- Helps train new hires and other staff on TechZone operations.
- Completes clerical tasks as required.
- Supports programs and projects, including the promotion of library materials.
- Maintains inventory and orders supplies as necessary.
- Addresses issues and maintains order as needed.
- Conducts opening and closing procedures.
- Creates engaging content for social media, marketing, or other library platforms.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential: High school diploma or equivalent. Proficiency in customer service. Ability to assist patrons with personal and library technology and equipment. Capability to provide both in-person and remote technical support. Willingness to become a passport agent and a public notary. Understanding of intellectual freedom principles as they relate to public libraries. Competence in using computers and relevant software or systems necessary for job functions. Physical ability to lift light to moderate objects (over 25 pounds) and transport them short distances (up to 50 feet), as well as push library material carts weighing up to 200 pounds. Ability to pass background checks and education verification.
Preferred: Some college coursework or an Associate's degree. Two or more years of relevant experience.
