KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The ASCPL is seeking a Technology Support Specialist to assist in fulfilling our mission of providing resources for education and leisure, information services, meeting spaces, and programs that enrich community life. The TechZone is a creative space available to artists, entrepreneurs, and hobbyists, featuring tools such as recording studios, laser engravers, vinyl printers, and more.

The Technology Support Specialist will work 37.5 hours per week, including evenings and weekends, and will engage directly with the public to address their technology needs. Responsibilities include:

  • Welcoming customers in a friendly and approachable manner.
  • Guiding and assisting customers in utilizing technology and equipment, providing instruction as needed.
  • Understanding and resolving various technical inquiries by offering tailored information.
  • Acting as a passport agent in compliance with Department of State regulations.
  • Serving as a notary public according to Ohio law.
  • Carrying out standard library operations, including circulation and service desk tasks.
  • Assisting with the maintenance and troubleshooting of TechZone equipment.
  • Explaining library policies and procedures to the public in a customer-focused manner.
  • Training new staff and colleagues on TechZone processes.
  • Performing clerical tasks as required.
  • Supporting programs and projects, including the promotion of library materials.
  • Managing inventory and ordering supplies as necessary.
  • Addressing issues and maintaining order within the TechZone.
  • Executing opening and closing procedures.
  • Creating engaging content for social media and other marketing platforms.
  • Completing additional duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required: High school diploma or equivalent. Strong customer service skills. Ability to assist customers with both personal and library technology. Capability to provide in-person and remote technical support. Willingness to become a passport agent and public notary. Knowledge of intellectual freedom principles as they pertain to public libraries. Proficiency in using computers and relevant software. Ability to lift and carry light to moderate objects and manage library materials carts. Successful completion of background checks.

Preferred: Some college coursework or an Associate's degree. Two or more years of relevant experience.
