We are seeking a highly skilled Financial Specialist to join our team at the State of New Mexico. The successful candidate will be responsible for facilitating accurate and timely processing of all financial documents for the Income Support Division, utilizing the Statewide Human Resource Accounting and Management Reporting System (SHARE).

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and process financial forms submitted by programs for accuracy and completeness.
  • Create, track, audit, manage, and complete all purchase requisitions, change orders, invoices, and journal entries.
  • Verify expenditures to ensure they are eligible under the associated funding source(s).
  • Act as backup to other Financial Specialists.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reconciliations.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, and/or finance.
  • Experience assisting with preparation/review of accounting documents for accuracy and compliance with laws, regulations, and accounting procedures.
  • Experience ensuring transactions are within authorized budgets.
  • Experience in beginning and finalizing transactions.
  • Ability to work with staff, vendors, and other financial liaisons to facilitate solutions to issues to complete a transaction.
Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required.
