This position is responsible for ensuring the accuracy and compliance of financial reporting and accounting practices across the State of New Mexico. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, finance, and budgeting, with experience in preparing and reviewing journal entries, monitoring financial transactions, and working with state agencies to resolve issues.
Key Responsibilities- Review and approve journal entries to ensure compliance with state accounting practices
- Monitor monthly financial transactions, including deposits and intra-funds, to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Collaborate with state agencies, ACFR accountants, and other staff members to resolve daily financial issues
- Assist the ACFR staff with daily tasks and special projects as needed
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or Business Administration
- Five years of experience in budgeting, accounting, and/or auditing
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel for data analysis
- State SHARE Accounting System experience
This position is performed in an office setting with extensive computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending, and reaching may be required. Occasional travel is required for meetings and conferences.
Supplemental InformationThis position is not covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
