SUMMARY:

Oversee the daily operations of personnel within the Specimen Management Division of the clinical laboratory.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Organizes and maintains work schedules to ensure efficient sample processing.
  • Recruits, trains, and integrates new laboratory staff.
  • Creates and upholds standard operating procedures.
  • Manages inventory and procurement of laboratory supplies and equipment.
  • Compiles and presents laboratory performance metrics and progress updates.
  • Provides ongoing performance evaluations, mentorship, and conducts annual reviews for staff.
  • Regularly assesses staff training and competency in accordance with laboratory standards.
  • Ensures compliance with CAP, NY, and CLIA regulations.
  • Performs additional job-related tasks as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE:

Supervisor, Laboratory Operations:
  • Education:
    • Required: Associate's degree in a relevant field related to clinical laboratory operations.
  • Experience:
    • Required: Three years of pertinent experience.
Manager, Laboratory Operations:
  • Education:
    • Required: Bachelor's degree in a relevant field related to clinical laboratory operations. Experience cannot substitute for degree.
  • Experience:
    • Required: Six years of pertinent experience.
Or
  • Education:
    • Master's degree in a relevant field related to clinical laboratory operations. Experience cannot substitute for degree.
  • Experience:
    • Required: Four years of pertinent experience.
Or
  • Education:
    • PhD in a relevant field related to clinical laboratory operations. Experience cannot substitute for degree.
  • Experience:
    • Required: Two years of pertinent experience.
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
  • Optional: MB (ASCP) or CG (ASCP)
