Job Overview:

As a Clinical Laboratory Specialist, you will operate under the guidance of the Laboratory Service Director, adhering to established protocols and procedures. Your primary responsibility will be to conduct a variety of clinical laboratory assessments across different sections of the laboratory.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform clinical laboratory tests with precision and accuracy.
  • Analyze and interpret test outcomes, ensuring reliability and consistency.
  • Utilize technical expertise and sound judgment to address and manage laboratory situations as they arise.
  • Contribute to the Laboratory Performance Improvement program, manage supply orders, and assist in the development of laboratory procedures.
  • Senior specialists may take on supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Laboratory Service Director or Assistant Laboratory Director.

Qualifications:

Candidates must possess certification as a Medical Technologist, such as CLS (NCA), MLS (ASCP), MT (ASCP), or MT (AMT). Recent graduates from accredited programs are encouraged to apply, with the expectation of obtaining certification within the first year of employment.

A Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology or a closely related field is required, along with successful completion of a CAHEA approved program in Medical Technology. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with physicians, healthcare teams, and patients.

Essential skills include the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision, effective verbal and written communication, basic computer proficiency, and the capability to perform both routine and specialized laboratory procedures. Candidates must also be able to work efficiently under pressure and exhibit flexibility and initiative in managing workflow.
