Job Summary

The Allegheny Intermediate Unit is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Family Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Early Childhood Family Support program, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive services to families with children aged birth to five years.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit and engage new families in the program, building strong relationships and trust.
  • Conduct regular home visits to provide support, guidance, and resources to families, focusing on child development, parent involvement, and family well-being.
  • Develop and implement individualized family plans, setting goals and objectives to promote family self-sufficiency and empowerment.
  • Collaborate with community partners and service providers to ensure families receive necessary resources and support.
  • Maintain accurate and timely records, tracking progress and outcomes.
  • Participate in program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Stay up-to-date with best practices and research in early childhood development and family support.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in education, child development, family relations, social work, or a related field.
  • At least one year of experience working with infants, toddlers, and families, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong communication, writing, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to travel to home visits and community meetings.
Working Conditions

The physical demands of this role include sitting for extended periods, lifting up to 35 pounds, and moving around to interact with families and community members.
