Inclusive Education Specialist

Reports to: Director of Specialized Learning

Working Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday - Friday, (9-Month Position).

Holy Family Institute (HFI) has a rich legacy of over 120 years in providing support to children and families in the Pittsburgh area. We are recognized as one of the largest social service entities in the region, operating multiple programs across several counties. Our organization is independent and is guided by Catholic Social Teachings, welcoming individuals from all faiths and backgrounds.



Core Responsibilities:

The Inclusive Education Specialist is responsible for creating and executing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of students with special educational requirements.

Key Duties:

  • Uphold the Mission and Philosophy of Holy Family Institute.
  • Effectively manage crisis situations utilizing skills acquired through agency-approved training.
  • Design and implement comprehensive Individual Education Plans.
  • Develop and deliver engaging daily lesson plans that actively involve students in their learning journey.
  • Exhibit a strong understanding of subject matter.
  • Modify Individual Education Plans as necessary.
  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Foster positive relationships with parents and colleagues.
  • Establish clear classroom rules and implement behavior contracts when required.
  • Guide the Classroom Behavior Intervention Specialist.
  • Complete necessary documentation in accordance with agency standards.
  • Enhance professional skills to improve job performance.

Qualifications:

Applicants must possess a degree in Special Education.

PA Certification in Special Education is mandatory, and a secondary certification is advantageous. A valid PA driver's license and current Act 33/34, along with education FBI clearances, are also required. Additionally, candidates must be physically capable of managing student behavior.
