The Senior Manager of Business Operations Transformation will operate under the Senior Director of Continuous Improvement and adhere to the guidance of the Program Management Office of AES' Global Renewable Scale to Grow Program (GRS2G). The Senior Manager will oversee a team of business operations specialists to facilitate the continuous enhancement of AES Global Renewables.

This position will concentrate on improving personnel development, processes, technology, systems, and procedures (collectively referred to as 'ways of working'). These enhancements will align with the GRS2G program objectives of (a) supporting AES' Global Renewables business growth at scale, (b) increasing the rate of on-time/on-budget performance in renewable energy project delivery, and (c) enhancing the quality of the experience for AES Renewables personnel.

In this role, the Senior Manager will acquire a comprehensive understanding of the AES Global Renewables Organization. They will have opportunities to collaborate with all functional groups within AES Global Renewables at every level of seniority and will significantly influence the areas of organizational improvement necessary to maintain AES Global Renewables as an industry-leading provider of renewable energy and decarbonization solutions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify, Plan and Communicate Areas for Improvement: Collaborating cross-functionally, the Senior Manager will employ various methods to gather insights from across the organization regarding potential enhancements to ways of working. They will synthesize findings and propose recommendations for improvements, culminating in quarterly and annual workstream plans.
  • Design & Facilitate Workstreams: The Senior Manager will utilize the GRS2G methodology to collaborate with cross-functional groups of AES Renewables experts organized in improvement workstreams to design, develop, and implement organizational enhancements. This includes but is not limited to:
    • Identifying and engaging internal partners to ensure the right individuals are involved in developing solutions to complex organizational challenges.
    • Planning and facilitating quarterly GRS2G improvement workshops.
    • Collaborating with Workstreams and Workstream Leaders to develop quarterly sprint improvement plans.
    • Leading cross-functional teams to deliver enhancements through agile/scrum meetings and methodologies, including bi-weekly 'stand-up calls' and weekly progress reporting.
    • Drafting and supporting the creation of essential business operations documents and supporting materials such as processes, procedures, policies, charters, architectures, and reference materials.
    • Assisting in the identification and engagement of senior business leaders to facilitate key business decisions.
    • Applying various facilitation techniques in GRS2G workstreams to promote collaboration and critical thinking, driving innovative solutions, and reporting on progress to ensure improvement workstreams meet quarterly objectives and deliverables.
  • Enable Change Management Around Improvements: The Senior Manager will closely collaborate with workstream leaders and the AES Renewables Change Management Team to ensure that new ways of working are communicated, understood, and adopted. This includes:
    • Supporting the development of Change Management plans.
    • Identifying change impact audiences and quantifying levels of impact.
    • Assisting in creating educational materials to raise awareness of new ways of working.
    • Designing training materials to ensure new methods are adopted and implemented by target audiences.
    • Supporting the development of communication strategies and packages to ensure widespread understanding of changes being made.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement Feedback Loops: The Senior Manager will collaborate with designated teams to gather feedback from the organization regarding implementation. They will ensure that the GRS2G program rapidly adapts its improvements to meet the dynamic business environment of AES Global Renewables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (or Master's degree preferred) in Liberal Arts, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Highly inquisitive, possessing strong analytical and problem-solving skills, adept at systems-level thinking, and demonstrating a 'Growth Mindset.'
  • Minimum of 5 years of direct experience in organizational change/process management and/or business consulting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of managing healthy conflict while maintaining interpersonal business relationships.
  • Training or accreditation in Lean Six Sigma and/or Agile Methodologies is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with digital management systems and/or Artificial Intelligence is a plus.
  • PMP certification or PMI experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry and renewable generation technologies is a plus.
  • Solid knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint is required; capabilities in SAP ERP implementation are a plus.
