The Senior Manager of Business Operations Transformation will collaborate closely with the Senior Director of Continuous Improvement and the Program Management Office of AES' Global Renewable Scale to Grow Program (GRS2G). This role involves managing a team of business operations specialists to facilitate the continuous enhancement of AES Global Renewables.

This position will concentrate on improving personnel development, processes, technology, systems, and procedures (collectively referred to as 'ways of working'). These enhancements will align with the GRS2G program objectives, which include (a) supporting the scalable growth of AES' Global Renewables business, (b) increasing the rate of on-time and on-budget renewable energy project delivery, and (c) enhancing the overall experience of AES Renewables personnel.

In this capacity, the Senior Manager will develop a thorough understanding of the AES Global Renewables Organization. They will have the opportunity to collaborate with all functional groups within AES Global Renewables at various levels of seniority, significantly impacting the necessary organizational improvements to maintain AES Global Renewables as a leader in renewable energy and decarbonization solutions.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Identify, Plan, and Communicate Areas for Improvement: The Senior Manager will work cross-functionally to gather insights from across the organization regarding potential improvements in ways of working. They will synthesize findings and make recommendations, culminating in quarterly and annual workstream plans.
  • Design & Facilitate Workstreams: Utilizing the GRS2G methodology, the Senior Manager will collaborate with cross-functional groups of AES Renewables experts organized in improvement workstreams to design, develop, and implement organizational enhancements. This includes:
    • Identifying and engaging internal partners to ensure the right personnel are involved in developing solutions to complex organizational challenges.
    • Planning and facilitating quarterly GRS2G improvement workshops.
    • Collaborating with Workstreams and Workstream Leaders to develop quarterly sprint improvement plans.
    • Leading cross-functional teams to deliver improvements through agile/scrum methodologies, including bi-weekly stand-up meetings and weekly progress reporting.
    • Drafting and supporting the creation of essential business operations documents and materials such as processes, procedures, policies, charters, architectures, and reference materials.
    • Assisting in the identification and engagement of senior business leaders to facilitate key business decisions.
    • Applying various facilitation techniques in GRS2G workstreams to promote collaboration and critical thinking, driving innovative solutions, and reporting on progress to ensure workstreams meet quarterly objectives.
  • Enable Change Management Around Improvements: The Senior Manager will collaborate closely with workstream leaders and the AES Renewables Change Management Team to ensure that new ways of working are effectively communicated, understood, and adopted. This includes:
    • Supporting the development of Change Management plans.
    • Identifying change impact audiences and quantifying levels of impact.
    • Assisting in creating educational materials to raise awareness of new practices.
    • Designing training materials to facilitate the adoption and implementation of new practices by target audiences.
    • Supporting the development of communication strategies and packages to ensure broad understanding of the changes being made.
  • Driving Continuous Improvement Feedback Loops: The Senior Manager will collaborate with designated teams to gather feedback regarding implementation. They will ensure that the GRS2G program quickly adapts its improvements to meet the dynamic business environment of AES Global Renewables.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (Master's degree preferred) in Liberal Arts, Business, Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Highly inquisitive, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, adept at systems-level thinking, and possessing a 'Growth Mindset.'
  • A minimum of 5 years of direct experience in organizational change/process management and/or business consulting.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, capable of managing healthy conflict while maintaining positive business relationships.
  • Training or accreditation in Lean Six Sigma and/or Agile Methodologies is a plus.
  • Extensive experience with digital management systems and/or Artificial Intelligence is advantageous.
  • PMP certification or PMI experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the energy industry and renewable generation technologies is beneficial.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, SharePoint; capabilities in SAP ERP implementation are a plus.
