Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Aviation Planning Specialist to join our team at KLJ. The successful candidate will be responsible for determining data collection methods, preparing plans and policies, and conducting investigations and inspections to support airport infrastructure and aviation operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Determine well-defined data collection methods for identifying and compiling observational, spatial, operations, and environmental data from multiple matrices for projects, research, and surveys.
  • Plan Preparation and Review: Prepare and assist with completing general plans, specific/master plans, community plans, zoning codes, comprehensive plans, permitting policies and/or development standards for assigned projects.
  • Investigations and Inspections: Conduct investigations, inspections, studies, and surveys to gain further information on a particular problem or issue, verify site characteristics, and/or to plan for future needs affecting airport capacity, safety, and operational efficiency.
  • Client Representation: Prepare applications and represent clients in the approval process with local and regional jurisdictions.
  • Public Involvement: Prepare, coordinate, and facilitate public involvement and consensus-building meetings in support of client project work.
  • Technical Writing: Prepare drafts of technical memos, meeting minutes, transmittals, presentations, and other written materials summarizing research with findings and conclusions.
  • Research and Analysis: Provide analysis, evaluation, and interpretation of facts and data obtained during field and site investigations, offering input with developing action plans for moderate- to high-level challenges and development activities.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Read, interpret, compose, and review Planning Reports, Categorical Exclusions, EA's, EIRs, and other technical documents.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Interact with regulatory agencies, subcontractors, and clients in a confident and professional manner.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in Aviation Management, Airport Management, Planning, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Credentials: CM credential is preferred. AAAE credential can enhance qualifications.
  • Experience: 10 plus years of experience working in the aviation planning field.

  • Be able to walk on uneven terrain up to ten miles per day.
  • Frequently lift and move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and move up to 75 pounds.

This position is expected to pay between $85-115K per year depending on applicable experience and location.
