We are looking for someone to leverage their leadership and analytical expertise to enhance the safety of civil aviation and the National Airspace System. You will collaborate closely with stakeholders to grasp their inquiries and requirements, delving into their data-rich environments to piece together their information challenges. Your role will involve mentoring colleagues, providing aviation safety subject matter expertise, engaging with industry partners, analyzing safety data, developing scripts, and creating analytical tools and capabilities. You will utilize the appropriate mix of tools and frameworks to convert disparate data points into objective insights that help quantify known safety risks, identify new vulnerabilities, and facilitate informed decision-making and recommendations for the aviation sector. Your deep understanding of data will empower stakeholders to comprehend its implications and applications.

You Have:

  • 10+ years of experience in aviation safety data analysis
  • Familiarity with GE Digital's Event Measurement System (EMS)
  • Experience collaborating with the aviation safety community
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools, including Tableau
  • Knowledge of relational database systems, including SQL
  • Experience with Python programming for aviation safety risk monitoring and anomaly detection
  • Understanding of aviation system flight operations
  • Knowledge of Flight Operational Quality Assurance (FOQA), FAA radar, and Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) data
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements
  • Master's degree

  • Experience analyzing big data using PySpark, HDFS, or similar technologies
  • Collaboration experience with FAA ASIAS program leadership
  • Experience working with integrated aviation safety data
  • Experience in back-end data processing for automated metric generation
  • Experience in technical mentorship and staff training
  • Experience providing thought leadership and technical guidance to government clients
  • Knowledge of Air Traffic Control systems and processes
