The Business Project Management Office (BPMO) plays a crucial role in delivering project management expertise and guidance for the organization’s most intricate initiatives, ensuring effective execution and alignment with business objectives.

About the Role

The Strategic Program Manager is responsible for overseeing critical client programs and projects, managing a diverse portfolio of complex initiatives simultaneously for key accounts. This role may involve collaboration with multiple Project Managers and cross-functional teams across various enterprise projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships and strategic alliances with key stakeholders and clients across different divisions to enhance program effectiveness.
  • Managing client-facing strategic initiatives and high-impact implementations, utilizing strong communication skills and project management methodologies. Adaptability to shifting priorities is essential.
  • Exhibiting strategic insight by providing valuable perspectives related to the client and industry trends that align with the organization’s critical needs.
  • Delivering executive-level updates on project status, risk management, and issue resolution to senior leadership and stakeholders, ensuring timely escalation when necessary.
  • Collaborating closely with the Sales team and subject matter experts to prepare materials, align messaging, and effectively present business reviews to senior client leadership.
  • Demonstrating expertise in all aspects of project management, including identification, analysis, tracking, and monitoring of project progress. Proficiency in project management tools is required.
  • Leading successful project teams by managing all necessary relationships, fostering accountability, and promoting a culture of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion & Belonging (DEI&B).

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in business-focused project or program management.
  • Project Management certification is required; PMI certification is preferred. Agile Certification (CSM or PMI-ACP) and Enterprise Change Management certifications are also preferred.
  • Experience in the insurance industry is preferred.
  • Client-facing and/or consulting experience is required.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively across a matrixed organization.
  • Proven leadership experience in a dynamic environment with frequent priority changes and resource constraints.
  • A Bachelor’s degree is required; an MBA is preferred.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed.
  • Effective communication skills with key stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with Delivery/Collaboration Tools (Adaptive Work, JIRA, Teams, SharePoint).
