Position Overview:

The Hartford is seeking an experienced Agile Product Owner to play a pivotal role in our Distribution Value Stream, specifically focusing on Agency Book Consolidations. This position serves as a crucial link between business operations and IT, ensuring that we deliver exceptional distribution experiences for both customers and agents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the execution of product initiatives for one or more agile teams, aligning with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across business and technology to uncover product opportunities and assess their implications.
  • Stay informed on industry trends and internal advancements to establish yourself as a subject matter expert.
  • Act as the voice of the customer within agile teams, ensuring their needs are prioritized.
  • Communicate the product vision and roadmap effectively to agile teams.
  • Guide teams in setting sprint goals and linking their activities to overarching business objectives.
  • Manage the product backlog by breaking down features into actionable stories and prioritizing them for maximum business impact.
  • Ensure the team backlog is healthy and ready for execution.
  • Write user stories independently, defining acceptance criteria without requiring oversight.
  • Validate completed stories against quality expectations and the product vision.
  • Incorporate feedback from sprint reviews to refine future initiatives.
  • Work closely with Scrum Masters, Agile teams, Architects, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with business vision.
  • Facilitate business readiness and change management efforts.
  • Monitor execution progress, identifying risks and impediments.
  • Analyze delivery metrics to pinpoint trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Utilize data and customer insights to prioritize the Product Backlog effectively.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, adapting messages for diverse audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years in an agile product-related role or a similar field.
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Agency Management Systems (e.g., Applied Epic, Vertafore) is essential.
  • Strong technical knowledge, including familiarity with APIs and ACORD XML.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum, and Kanban.
  • Experience with Agile lifecycle management tools (e.g., Rally, JIRA).
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a knack for tailoring messages to various audiences.
  • Experience in data analysis to derive insights and formulate hypotheses.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks and meet objectives.
  • Familiarity with change management frameworks such as ADKAR is a plus.
  • Prior experience in Financial Services or Insurance is advantageous.
  • Certification in Product Ownership (CSPO, PSPO, or SAFe POPM) is preferred.

Compensation:

The annualized base pay range for this role is $97,440 - $146,160, based on market analysis. Actual pay may vary based on performance and competencies. This position also includes a comprehensive total compensation package, which may consist of bonuses and other incentives.
