The Hartford is seeking an Agile Product Owner (APO) to play a pivotal role in our Distribution Value Stream, focusing on Agency Book Consolidations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead product execution for one or more agile teams, aligning with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to uncover product opportunities and their implications.
  • Stay informed on internal, competitive, and industry technology trends to maintain subject matter expertise.
  • Represent the voice of the customer within agile teams.
  • Provide insights on portfolio and value stream vision and roadmap.
  • Communicate the product vision and roadmap effectively to agile teams.
  • Guide agile teams in establishing sprint goals, ensuring alignment with business intent.
  • Manage the product backlog, breaking down features into actionable stories and prioritizing them to maximize business value.
  • Ensure the health and readiness of the team backlog.
  • Write user stories independently, defining acceptance criteria without requiring oversight.
  • Validate that completed stories meet quality expectations and the definition of done.
  • Incorporate feedback from sprint demonstrations.
  • Partner with Scrum Masters, Agile teams, Architects, APMs, Tech Leads, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment with business vision.
  • Drive business readiness and change management initiatives.
  • Monitor and report on execution progress, including risks and impediments.
  • Analyze delivery metrics to identify trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Utilize data, Voice of Customer, and Voice of Business to prioritize the Product Backlog.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills, adapting messages for diverse audiences.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in an agile product-related role, digital, technology, or a related field.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proficiency in one or more Agency Management Systems (e.g., Applied Epic, Vertafore) is essential.
  • Strong technical knowledge, including familiarity with APIs and ACORD XML.
  • Understanding of agile methodologies and frameworks such as SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, and XP.
  • Experience with Agile lifecycle management tools (e.g., Rally, JIRA).
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and MS Teams.
  • Demonstrated collaboration and influence skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of tailoring messages to influence outcomes.
  • Experience in data analysis to derive insights and formulate hypotheses for testing.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to manage multiple high-priority demands and achieve objectives.
  • Experience with change management frameworks such as ADKAR is preferred.
  • Prior experience in Financial Services or Insurance is advantageous.
  • Previous Product Ownership experience is a plus.
  • CSPO, PSPO, or SAFe POPM certification is preferred; otherwise, Product Owner Certification/training is required within 90 days of hire.

Compensation:

The annualized base pay range for this role is $97,440 - $146,160, based on an analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay may vary based on performance, proficiency, and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford's total compensation package, which may also include bonuses, long-term incentives, and recognition programs.
