Job Summary:

The Production Supervisor leads a multi-department team of CNC Operators and Set-Up Operators, in a high mix / low volume aerospace component manufacturing environment. This role is expected to balance expertise in machining for precision tolerance components, along with strong interpersonal skills to motivate the team to work toward common goals and objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Operations: Oversee the day-to-day priorities for multiple manufacturing departments, ensuring efficient production and quality control.
  • Process Improvement: Cross-train staff on best practices to meet set-up and production run-times, optimize processes through the elimination of waste, and lead lean continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Team Motivation: Motivate team members to meet daily, weekly, and monthly goals and objectives, identifying waste and non-value-added tasks that interfere with objectives.
  • Resource Allocation: Coordinate time-off requests, ensuring adequate staffing levels across all disciplines of machine centers to meet production needs.
  • Performance Management: Routinely measure, monitor, and publish the performance of all team members, comparing results against department standards, and completing periodic performance evaluations.
  • Communication: Host daily GEMBA walks, serve as the primary conduit for all communications between operators and cross-functional teams, and attend production meetings and quality clinics as needed.
  • Collaboration: Partner with production control to stage daily and weekly priorities, ensuring jobs are completed on time, and productivity is sustained.

Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive career in the manufacturing of precision machined components in a regulated industry such as aerospace or medical.
  • Leadership: Experience leading and managing a small team toward common goals, with a strong understanding of operational metrics and a keen sense of attention to detail.
  • Technical Skills: Strong computer skills, especially related to navigating ERP systems, job clocking systems, CAD/CAM software, and Microsoft products.
