The Associate Director of Human Resources is a pivotal figure within Tech9, acting as the chief administrator of the Human Resources division. This role is tasked with delivering both extensive and daily HR support and direction to employees and management on various HR-related issues, encompassing recruitment, remuneration, employee performance, conflict mediation, and professional growth.

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer

Compensation Range: $75,000-$85,000 Based on Experience

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver outstanding customer service and support to all Tech9 employees and stakeholders.
  • Oversee the recruitment process, serving as the main contact for job descriptions and postings, including managing the hiring of over 100 seasonal employees annually, coordinating hiring processes, developing interview materials, and providing training for hiring managers to ensure equitable and streamlined procedures.
  • Lead the compensation strategy, offering market insights and forecasts on labor costs and compensation trends to aid in financial planning and the establishment of a successful employee compensation framework.
  • Ensure adherence to government regulations and compliance (e.g., OSHA, EEOC, L&I, FLSA), providing support and education for all medical accommodation requests, and managing annual HR processes including payroll audits.
  • Facilitate the processing of workers' compensation, work-related injuries, and unemployment claims, ensuring accurate completion of necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate closely with the finance department to ensure that financial policies align with legal standards, minimizing risks and penalties.
  • Act as the primary liaison for the Collective Bargaining Agreement between Tech9 and its employee union.
  • Direct benefits strategy and serve as the main contact for staff inquiries regarding benefits and annual benefits renewal, working with the finance department on budgeting and tracking expenses related to benefits.
  • Lead the development and communication of employee policies, ensuring consistent enforcement across departments and managing the Employee Handbook.
  • Provide internal leadership for initiatives focused on racial equity and social justice within Tech9.
  • Maintain proactive communication with staff, leadership, and the Board, including regular updates on HR activities and changes affecting employees.
  • Oversee a proactive employee performance management process, including developing procedures for employee complaints, performance improvement plans, and terminations, serving as a resource for leadership and managers.
  • Supervise any third-party consultants that contribute to the success of the human resources program as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate and current employee records and assist with HRMS inquiries.
  • Stay informed about changes in HR industry standards and regulatory updates.
Qualifications
  • 5+ years of experience in Human Resources management.
  • 3+ years of experience in leading HR regulations and best practices.
  • 3+ years of experience in documenting and reviewing established processes.
  • 3+ years of HRMS/HRIS administration experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in benefits administration.
  • 2+ years of experience in managing union agreements or collaborating with union leadership.

  • 7+ years of experience in Human Resources management.
  • Experience with ADP and/or EddyHR.

  • Experience with compensation strategy.
  • Training or lived experience in anti-racism initiatives.
  • Experience in building positive relationships with labor unions.
  • Previous experience in technology firms or related sectors.

Work Environment: This position is full-time and will primarily operate onsite, with the possibility of remote work up to 2 days per week.
