Position Title: Lead Human Resources Strategist

Reports To: Director of Human Resources

Employment Type: Full-time Exempt

Compensation Range: $80,000 – $100,000 Annually

Location: On-Site

Position Classification: Non-union management role

The Lead Human Resources Strategist (HR Strategist) is responsible for enhancing practices related to workforce management. This position fosters connections with various business units to ensure the integration of human resources within operational frameworks. The HR Strategist primarily addresses employee relations, grievances, and claims, while also offering training and support to management to minimize the necessity for HR intervention. This role operates in a consultative capacity to align human resources with the organization's broader strategies and objectives, possessing a solid understanding of both HR and operational functions to guarantee comprehensive representation in business decisions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on employment matters, initiating and revising policies and procedures as needed. Stay informed on employment laws, records, and governmental reporting to ensure compliance.
  • Oversee the employee corrective action process, providing guidance to supervisory staff on best practices and organizational procedures.
  • Conduct thorough investigations by gathering, analyzing, and documenting both quantitative and qualitative data, identifying key business issues, and developing actionable plans, while providing updates and recommendations to HR and leadership.
  • Maintain regular communication regarding ongoing investigations and deliver timely reports with supporting documentation for all completed inquiries.
  • Identify potential risks and formulate strategies for mitigation.
  • Design and implement strategic action plans aimed at enhancing team effectiveness, developing leadership capabilities, and improving the overall employee experience.
  • Guide business leaders on effective leadership behaviors, employee communication, and performance management strategies to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Manage and coordinate claims related to L&I, administer a light-duty back-to-work program, and ensure compliance with OSHA/WISHA regulations.
  • Address inquiries regarding employment issues and the application of organizational policies.
  • Serve as a senior member of the HR team, providing support, training, and informal coaching to colleagues.
  • Assist in succession planning initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in human resources.
  • Proficiency in HRIS/HRM software for tracking employee data.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing corrective actions and terminations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with HR practices in housing, homelessness, or social services sectors.
  • Familiarity with HR operations in a unionized environment.
  • Experience using ADP Workforce Now.
  • SHRM or HCI certification.
