Position Title: Human Resources Specialist

Reports to: HR Director

Compensation: Starting at $30.37 per hour

Employment Status: Regular, Full-Time, Non-Exempt

Role Summary:
The Human Resources Specialist plays a vital role in furthering the mission and vision of the Chief Seattle Club (CSC) by managing various essential human resources functions. This includes overseeing employee transitions, addressing inquiries, facilitating onboarding and offboarding processes, administering benefits, and maintaining employee documentation, both digital and physical. Under the guidance of HR leadership, the Specialist will also contribute to team initiatives focused on performance management, training, and other HR-related projects. The Specialist will collaborate closely with staff and leadership to cultivate a positive and inclusive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities:

  • HR Policies and Procedures:
    Develop, implement, and review all HR initiatives, policies, and systems to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Recruitment and Onboarding:
    Guide new employees through the onboarding experience, including orientation, benefits enrollment, and introductions to team members.
  • Employee Records Management:
    Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS and ATS systems, ensuring all information is current and compliant.
  • Performance Management Support:
    Assist supervisors in updating job descriptions and facilitate annual performance review processes.
  • Benefits Management:
    Support the HR Director in administering employee benefits, including managing retirement accounts and collaborating with payroll.
  • Training and Development:
    Organize and lead monthly training sessions for staff, covering essential topics such as CPR and First Aid.
  • Employee Relations:
    Address employee inquiries promptly and maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information.

Qualifications:

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with HRIS and ATS systems.
  • In-depth knowledge of HR functions, including recruitment, training, and benefits administration.
  • Commitment to understanding labor laws and compliance standards.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of historical and intergenerational trauma and its impact on the Native American community.

Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience. A minimum of three years in human resources, preferably in organizations serving vulnerable communities.

Work Environment:
This position typically operates in an office setting, requiring the ability to work at a desk for extended periods, utilize a computer, and engage in frequent communication with team members. Occasional travel may be necessary based on specific roles.
