Position Summary

The Portable Sanitation Vehicle Operator is tasked with servicing designated routes, which includes the maintenance of portable restrooms, hand wash stations, and other equipment within the Portable Services Division. The operator is expected to represent the company safely and respectfully while attending to customer accounts throughout the day and maintaining regular communication with dispatchers and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the vehicle safely in accordance with all local, state, and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
  • Service portable restrooms, hand wash stations, and other company equipment to meet or exceed service standards.
  • Complete assigned routes efficiently.
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding any route changes or issues that may arise.
  • Maintain and update route documentation.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Keep accurate driver log sheets.
  • Engage professionally with both internal and external customers.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean and operating properly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Capacity to meet the physical demands of the job, including prolonged exertion.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with customers.
  • Previous experience driving a CDL truck is preferred.
  • Experience in the waste management industry is a plus.
  • Additional skills may be required for specific tasks related to the work location or department.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years.
  • Compliance with all CDL/DOT requirements for safe driving, including proper licensing and medical certifications.
  • Proficiency in English to understand and respond to questions, directions, and safety training.

Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift, push, pull, and climb with loads up to 40 lbs.
  • Capability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Potential exposure to high traffic conditions while outside the vehicle.
