Position Overview:
The Environmental Services Technician - Housekeeper plays a crucial role in ensuring the cleanliness and maintenance of designated areas, including resident rooms, communal spaces, laundry facilities, and staff work areas within the nursing facility.
Compensation:
$16.90 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Work Schedule:
Flexible start times are available, with potential shifts including 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM, or 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM. Weekend rotation is included.
Key Responsibilities:
- Foster and maintain effective communication with all personnel.
- Uphold a positive representation of the organization within the community, aligning with our mission and values.
- Be available for on-call duties as required.
- Execute various cleaning tasks across skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living areas.
- Responsibilities include disinfecting, mopping, sweeping, vacuuming, and managing waste disposal, as well as cleaning furniture, windows, staircases, doors, restrooms, and handling soiled linens.
- Cross-train to support operations in all community areas.
- Conduct periodic cleaning tasks such as wall washing, drapery cleaning, and vent maintenance.
- Respond to and clean up unexpected spills and accidents.
- Utilize floor-cleaning machinery, buffers, and vacuums as necessary.
- Be knowledgeable about Material Safety Data Sheets relevant to all housekeeping tasks.
- Understand and adhere to safety protocols, including fire and disaster procedures.
- Be familiar with all cleaning agents, disinfectants, and equipment, ensuring their proper use.
- Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) when handling biohazardous materials, adhering to universal precautions.
- Comply with resident rights agreements and report any discrepancies immediately.
- Perform only those tasks for which training has been received and refrain from operating equipment without proper guidance.
- Maintain composure when interacting with challenging residents and families.
- Exhibit good attendance and adhere to scheduled breaks.
- Collaborate effectively with all team members.
- Complete additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or equivalent is required.
- Prior experience in a similar role is preferred.
- Strong communication skills to engage effectively with residents and staff.
- Commitment to delivering quality outcomes and services.
- Ability to relate well to diverse individuals.
- Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
- Exercise independent judgment and make sound decisions.
- Adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Ability to comprehend and retain instructions while organizing tasks.
- Willingness to manage interruptions and demonstrate flexibility.
- Comfortable with frequent exposure to water, cleaning agents, and protective gear.
