Position Overview

The Portable Sanitation Driver is tasked with servicing designated routes, which include the maintenance of portable restrooms, hand wash stations, and other equipment within the Portable Services Division. The driver represents the organization in a safe and professional manner while attending to customer accounts assigned throughout the day, maintaining regular communication with dispatchers and supervisors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to all local, state, and federal regulations as well as company policies.
  • Service portable restrooms, hand wash stations, and other company equipment to meet or exceed service standards.
  • Complete assigned routes efficiently.
  • Communicate with dispatch regarding any route changes or issues that may arise.
  • Maintain and update route documentation.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
  • Keep accurate driver log sheets.
  • Engage professionally with both internal and external customers.
  • Ensure the vehicle is clean and operating properly within the driver's capabilities.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret maps.
  • Capability to meet the physical demands of the role, including prolonged exertion.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and/or holidays as needed.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for effective interaction with customers.
  • Previous experience driving a CDL truck is preferred.
  • Experience in the waste management industry is a plus.
  • Additional skills may be required based on specific work location or department needs.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Minimum age requirement of 21 years.
  • Compliance with all CDL/DOT requirements for safe driving, including proper licensing and medical certification.
  • Proficiency in English to communicate effectively and understand safety instructions.

Physical and Environmental Considerations

  • Repetitive lifting, pushing, pulling, and climbing, with the ability to handle up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Exposure to residential and commercial waste.
  • Potential exposure to high traffic conditions while outside the vehicle.
