Job Overview

In this position, you will be responsible for:

  • Leading and overseeing initiatives related to metal and plastic finishing processes. Develop specifications and manufacturing layouts while collaborating with engineering and quality teams.
  • Setting up and monitoring necessary quality assurance tests for connectors on a weekly and monthly basis, including salt spray and corrosion tests as per military and customer standards. Provide troubleshooting and analysis for plating finish failures.
  • Researching and assessing new plating technologies for enhancements in product quality and cost efficiency.
  • Offering engineering support for customer inquiries as needed.
  • Reviewing and updating current processes and documentation to ensure their accuracy and relevance.
  • Coordinating corrective actions for production anomalies and establishing procedures to rectify manufacturing defects.
  • Delivering immediate process support to assist the team in achieving delivery and quality objectives.
  • Supporting the plating team in fulfilling safety and environmental standards.
  • Collaborating with support departments and external vendors to design and modify equipment for specific plating needs.
  • Ensuring comprehensive process documentation to facilitate the successful qualification of both new and existing processes.
  • Managing documentation to oversee precious metal consumption effectively.
  • Assisting Plant Engineering with plating equipment design, ventilation calculations, and waste treatment requirements.
  • Creating process flow diagrams for both new and existing products.


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3-10 years of experience in electroplating or plating within an R&D or process-oriented role.
  • Experience in a diverse metal finishing operation producing components, particularly for Aerospace and Military connectors as well as industrial applications.
  • Training in Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, and Statistical Process Control methodologies.
  • Preferred qualifications include Six Sigma Green or Black Belt, and certifications from American Electroplating and Surface Finishing.
  • Certification as an Electroplating Finisher (CEF) or as an AESF Foundation Master Surface Finisher (MSF).
  • Expertise in metal finishing processes and chemistry.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, process control, statistical analysis, and safety practices in manufacturing.
  • Strong project management skills and structured problem-solving abilities, with a focus on ethical decision-making and data analysis, as well as knowledge of SPC, ISO, and IPC standards.
  • Understanding of military and NADCAP specifications and qualifications.
  • Able to thrive in a fast-paced environment, with meticulous attention to detail and the ability to meet strict deadlines.
  • Physical capability to sit, stand, and walk frequently, and occasionally lift or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a chemical environment with hazardous materials and solutions, including exposure to noise, dust, fumes, and temperature variations, while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Eligibility to work on defense and satellite programs subject to ITAR Regulations, requiring U.S. Citizenship or U.S. permanent residency (Green Card).
