Compensation and Benefits

Pay Range: $23.00/hr. - $27.00/hr.
Additional Pay: Eligible for our Hospitality Incentive Bonus Program.

Position Summary

The Sous Chef plays a crucial role in ensuring the consistent planning, production, preparation, and timely delivery of high-quality food and beverages. This position oversees all kitchen operations, including food procurement, preparation, and maintaining quality standards, sanitation, and cleanliness. The Sous Chef is also responsible for training kitchen staff in cooking methods, preparation techniques, and presentation skills while effectively managing labor and food costs.

Key Responsibilities

1. Lead, train, and support all Kitchen Team Members effectively.
2. Oversee the preparation of a diverse range of food items using various cooking equipment.
3. Supervise shifts by communicating labor and service needs with other departments.
4. Assist in the recruitment and onboarding processes for kitchen personnel.
5. Conduct regular coaching and performance evaluations for team members.
6. Ensure adherence to recipe specifications and kitchen standards for all menu items.
7. Maintain adequate food inventory levels and manage product rotation.
8. Collaborate with kitchen and event teams to deliver exceptional service.
9. Train team members on necessary skills to meet service expectations.
10. Ensure compliance with health, sanitation, and safety regulations.

Qualifications

- High School Diploma or GED; Culinary degree preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience as a Sous Chef in a high-volume food service operation.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Must possess a Servsafe and/or San Diego County Food Handlers Manager Card.
- Willingness to travel occasionally for events.
