Role Summary

The primary responsibility of the Culinary Supervisor is to oversee kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, productivity, and adherence to quality standards. This role includes stepping in for the Chef de Cuisine as needed and exercising independent judgment in daily operations while managing a team of kitchen staff.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Respond promptly and professionally to guest inquiries and requests.
  2. Assist in the development and testing of new recipes and menu items.
  3. Supervise daily kitchen operations, ensuring proper food preparation methods, portion control, and waste management.
  4. Train, mentor, and evaluate kitchen staff to foster a positive work environment and enhance productivity.
  5. Coordinate food service and ensure timely delivery of dishes.
  6. Inspect kitchen cleanliness and organization regularly.
  7. Oversee food preparation to meet quality and quantity standards.
  8. Ensure proper food storage and serving temperatures are maintained.
  9. Monitor food presentation and taste to uphold high standards.

Qualifications

Fluency in English is required; Spanish proficiency is a plus. Candidates must be culinary graduates with comprehensive knowledge of kitchen operations and at least three years of relevant experience, including two years in a supervisory role. Familiarity with OSHA regulations, local health codes, and food safety protocols is essential. A valid San Diego Food Handlers card and California driver's license are required upon hire.
