Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled individual to join our team as a Lead Storage Solutions Architect. In this role, you will collaborate with a group of developers and engineers to architect, implement, and enhance our expansive high-performance storage systems, which manage petabytes of data. Your expertise will be vital in formulating strategies and executing solutions related to storage and data, thereby supporting our innovative robotics and AI research initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop scalable storage and data systems.
  • Oversee the architecture of our data and storage infrastructure.
  • Implement and maintain both internal and cloud-based systems.
  • Collaborate directly with application developers to guide them in selecting scalable and maintainable platforms.
Required Qualifications
  • Proven experience with large-scale clustered storage systems such as Ceph, Lustre, or GFS.
  • A strong interest in the nuances of Scale-Out versus Scale-Up architectures.
  • Excellent project management and organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with object storage solutions like S3 and its equivalents.
  • Experience with network file systems including NFS, Samba, and AFS.
  • Proficient in Linux Kernel, networking, and storage optimization.
  • Ability to script or program in languages such as Perl, Python, Ruby, Bash, or C.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of NFSv4, ACLs, and storage security practices.
  • Experience with big data technologies such as ElasticSearch, Cassandra, MongoDB, Spark, or HDFS.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools like Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or SaltStack.
  • Experience with web services such as Nginx, Varnish, Apache, or HA Proxy.
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies including vSphere, Xen, Docker, or KVM.
Compensation and Benefits

The compensation package for this position includes a competitive salary, Amazon Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), and Zoox Stock Appreciation Rights. The salary range for this role is between $193,000 and $243,000, with the possibility of a sign-on bonus. Compensation may vary based on geographic location and individual qualifications.

Zoox also provides a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, health insurance, long-term care insurance, disability insurance, and life insurance.
