Plant Maintenance Specialist

Ecovyst is seeking a dedicated Maintenance Engineer for our operations.
• The annual salary for this role ranges from $95,000 to $125,000, depending on qualifications and experience.
• Our compensation structure is informed by market analysis and reflects the minimum and maximum salaries for this position. Individual pay is influenced by various factors, including location, skills, experience, and education.
• Compensation may vary based on a candidate's qualifications and skills. Base salary is part of a comprehensive Total Rewards package designed to recognize and reward employee contributions.
Under the supervision of the Plant Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Engineer will ensure that the facility's machinery operates safely and efficiently, maximizing uptime while minimizing long-term ownership costs. This role demands a solid mechanical background and familiarity with various equipment types to provide practical support to the maintenance team. The Maintenance Engineer will oversee projects, mentor maintenance technicians, coordinate with contractors, and organize daily maintenance tasks to align with production objectives. The focus will be on implementing strategic improvements in asset reliability and maintenance processes over the short term (0-18 months).
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as a catalyst for change, promoting discipline, efficiency, and accountability within the maintenance team to enhance daily operations. Success will hinge on cultivating a culture that identifies root causes and swiftly addresses recurring issues.
- Offer technical guidance to Maintenance Planners and Supervisors in developing job packages for various equipment types, including fixed and rotating machinery.
- Collaborate with Planners/Schedulers/Maintenance Supervisors to refine work processes, enhancing the efficiency of scheduling and executing maintenance tasks.
- Conduct field audits to assess the effectiveness of planning and scheduling.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) standards related to mechanical integrity and maintenance procedures.
- Regularly review backlogs and compliance reports to guarantee timely scheduling and completion of critical maintenance tasks.
- Establish and track Maintenance KPIs to measure the effectiveness of maintenance processes.
- Serve as a steward of the plant's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, particularly concerning work design and execution.
- Support the Reliability Engineer in optimizing maintenance strategies based on historical data.
- Assist Operations and Maintenance teams in troubleshooting equipment failures and evaluating service conditions.
- Monitor repair processes to ensure compliance with specifications and document all relevant details.
- Provide technical support for the procurement of necessary parts and equipment.
- Coordinate Predictive Maintenance activities, including vibration analysis and thermography.
- Monitor equipment performance to identify potential issues proactively.
- Advise on items for inclusion in turnaround work and assess mechanical equipment conditions during turnarounds.
- Oversee the Management of Change process related to maintenance activities.
- Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) teams to investigate equipment failures and implement corrective actions.
- Share insights and learning experiences across sites to enhance maintenance practices.
- Regularly evaluate and implement corrective actions based on audits and assessments.
- Collaborate with operators to maintain equipment through updated Standard Operating Procedures and training.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer among plant engineers for technical optimization.
- Develop Maintenance Standard Operating Procedures and provide training to technicians and supervisors.
- Contribute technical input on Capital/Expense projects and manage small capital initiatives.
- Promote the adoption of innovative maintenance technologies within the plant.
- Maintain and update technical documentation for record-keeping.
- Participate actively in Maintenance Network meetings to share learning and leverage collective insights.
- Engage in the plant's capital and expense planning processes.
- Contribute to the plant's HSE initiatives and training programs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in maintenance and reliability, preferably in chemical or petrochemical environments.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Experience in planning and scheduling maintenance tasks.
- Familiarity with API, ASME, and ANSI standards.
- Training in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
- Proficient in SAP and MS Office applications.
- Strong understanding of HSE procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of maintenance technologies, including vibration analysis and thermal imaging.
- Ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
- Proven problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Competent in technical writing and documentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM).
- Certification as a Maintenance and Reliability Professional (CMRP).
- Certification as a Reliability Leader (CRL).
