Your Role

Position Overview:
As a Junior Mechanical Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for executing routine designs for less complex engineering tasks under direct supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilizing and adhering to departmental design and drafting standards.
  • Understanding project scope, specifications, and design criteria upon assignment to a project team.
  • Providing on-site support during project initiation.
  • Creating conceptual layouts and cost analyses to identify the most efficient solutions for engineering challenges.
  • Generating preliminary designs and material take-offs appropriate for project estimates.
  • Conducting detailed design calculations and sketches for construction materials associated with projects.
  • Ensuring calculations are well-organized for efficient review and use by drafting teams.
  • Assisting the drafting team in resolving standard layout and detailing issues.
  • Collaborating with design leaders from various disciplines to facilitate the smooth exchange of critical information necessary for timely project completion.
  • Reviewing vendor drawings and other discipline drawings for mechanical considerations.
  • Supporting engineering tasks such as stress analysis, construction specifications, and material procurement specifications.
  • Assisting in the analysis of piping systems for flexibility and stress.
  • Helping in the selection of piping specialty components.
Qualifications

Education:
A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution is required.

Registration:
Engineer in Training (EIT) certification is highly preferred.

Experience:
This role requires up to one year of relevant experience in mechanical engineering.

Skills:
  • Familiarity with design standards and codes.
  • Understanding of specifications for piping materials.
  • Knowledge of manual valve sizing and application.
  • Awareness of piping supports and restraints.
  • Proficiency in CAD software, such as AutoCAD or Microstation.
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop virtual team skills and foster cross-divisional relationships.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for extended periods.
